    RPM dip & surge

Thanks, Marty. I'm used to hearing less-than-favorable things about Dorman, so I wouldn't have thought of that. I've bought 2 PMDs from Leroy since I've had the Sub (2012). I think the first was Flight Systems, and I know the second (installed now) is Flight. Somebody else was wondering if the...

    RPM dip & surge

Hi, all. Checklist below. The RPMs often dip down to ~500 or so when any load is applied while idling or cruising with no acceleration (braking at idle or while coming to a stop, shifting into gear). It threatens to stall but doesn’t; the dip is followed by a momentary surge. When that’s not...

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

Now that I've got the timing and TDCO all set, I'll try my new PMD again and see if that fixes it.

No air - clear as can be.

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

Thanks, MrMarty. I adjusted timing and did TDCO relearn first, and that cleared things up. Seems fine now. Only thing left is hard warm start - once it's started everything seems fine. I'll check around about it.

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

I advanced the pump and was able to get it going - gave it a hard drive for 100 mi a couple of nights ago. When I pulled into a stop, it dipped down to 500 RPM, even a tad lower, and threatened to stall or did stall - that happened during a few but not all of the stops (I sat at a couple of...

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

Just for kicks, I tried the time set in the Tech 2. The couple of times I tried, it stalled right away: the manual says to advance the timing, if that happens. I'm hoping it's only the timing.

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

I got it started and turned it off after it idled fine for 2 minutes. Checked for leaks and started it up for half a minute a couple more times while chasing down a power steering leak. Then it wouldn't run again (really hard start then immediately die). Kept trying and got it to start a couple...

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

Thanks, Will. Hoping to button it up and get it started tomorrow. It's been a long trek.

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

All set with the brackets. Thanks. I'm looking at my trans cooler lines now. The top fitting that goes into the side of the radiator, and the 2 lines that go into the separate cooler in front of the radiator. Doesn't look like they get o-rings. Can anyone confirm? I don't remember any o-rings...

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

Got it situated. Thanks. What are these two brackets? This one attached to the front of the driver side engine mount. I don't know what attaches to it: And I don't know where this one bolts up and what lines go into it:

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

I took the engine out, took out the converter, reinstalled it (all 3 ledges), and measured 1.02+" clearance from bell housing mating surface to bolt holes face. Reinstalled the engine and still have 1/4" gap between bell housing and block. Noting's binding: I can easily spin the converter with...

Thanks, everyone. You saved me from disaster for sure.

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

Thanks, Will. Great info. Is it common for the converter to slink forward when the engine is pulled and jostled back in?
