I put in a valve to shut off hot coolant flow to the front and rear heater cores. I noticed that the rear A/C was cold, but the front was not. It was likely the front air blend door seals. It would have been over a grand to pull the dash and replace them. The A/C was fighting the hot heater...
Took out the fuel inlet screen on the IP and it was clean. Lime green fuel sitting inside the IP.. Moved the ground to the IP.. still wouldn't start.
Still ordering all my parts for the conversion.
There is a youtube video showing the procedure to replace that switch. It is a little bit involved but you'll save a lot of money. It is called the multi-function switch.

No, I didn't get a throttle cable.. gonna try to hit a junk yard for the cable and pedal assembly. Is the cable specific to the diesel trucks? Maybe I can get it from the guy...
I think I'm gonna try to do what you did...seems easier.
Yep thats the motor I got for $250. I'll probably end up taking it apart as a learning experience after I'm done with the conversion.
Anyone know for sure if I'll need to use the injector lines? I've heard both ways.
I found a 93 motor locally on craigslist. The guy broke two cranks on it. Odometer says 200k. I got the intakes, turbo, coolant crossover, IP, throttle parts, new balancer, torque converter, oil pan, oil pump, water pump, new timing chain, heads, etc, for $250!
He was asking $350, but since I...
Cumminsfever, let me check on the fuel inlet screen this weekend and see if that's my problem. I'll contact you via PM so you don't unnecessarily have to remove your pedal.
Thanks for the kind offer.
I was going from Bobbie Martin's guide and other posts he had made about the difficulty in getting the existing pedal modified properly to work the mechanical linkage. My understanding was that replacing the pedal was the best method, thereby needing the optishift or van TCM. If you have photos...
No, I installed a new Delphi HFP905. Opening the vent cap on top of the filter I get gushes of clear fuel.. Since the truck ran for 2+ years with a failed lift pump, I'm chalking it up to IP failure. The guy at the Stanadyne shop said he'd pop it open to find out if it was the armature that went.
Long story short, I had TCC shudder symptoms between 55-65mph. (3.73 gears). ATRA shop put a scanner on it and it showed no slip on the clutch. Injection shop found improper delay on the "armature".. after I took it home it wouldn't start in the morning. I bought the truck with 228k, drove it...
