Well, I am very happy to say, my 2003 Duramax is back on the road and running great again. After all the trouble shooting, wire chasing, and modules be being sent in for testing, I followed my gut and replaced the TCM. Although I sent it was sent in twice and was so called tested and repaired...
I pulled the gray data 2 wire from the back of the IPC connector. I checked continuity to the TCM. I got continuity end to end and no continuity to ground. I will continue checking wiring but have ordered a TCM today.
I had the TCM tested and updated about a month ago. Here are the tech notes from UpFix.com
Tech Note: TESTED AND NO ISSUES FOUND We have reserviced this unit by checking, replacing and reinstalling some internal components as well as reprogramming to latest firmware version. Unit is...
I’m starting to lean towards a bad TCM. I sent it in to be tested and it came back ok but I’m not convinced. I’ve torn into every wiring harness and connectors I can find in the system and can not locate a wire problem. Every ground I could find has been checked, cleaned and reinstalled. I’ve...

I disconnected the trans harness and place a variable resistor in line with G and H in the main harness plug. Key on or off, there was no change to the pegged trans temp gauge or “Trans hot idle engine” display on the IPC.
With the trans plug and the red connector disconnected at the TCM, DMM...
I disconnected the transmission harness at the trans, the gauge still stays pegged with the key on.
For clarification,
With the key off, I am to disconnect the IPC and probe the data pin in the trans connector ( are you referring to the return wire from the trans ? And are you referring to the...
I sent my IPC in to be tested. The IPC tested good. No issues. The stepper motors were replaced and the back lighting was renewed. I installed the IPC……… I still have a pegged out trans gauge and the Trans Hot message on the IPC. So, I’m not exactly sure where to go next. I’m usually a pretty...
Ive tested: At the TCM J2 red connector, pin 10 yel/blk 4.9 v, pin 31 bro 12v, 20 pin connector engine side, pin G ground, pin H 5 v. 20 pin connector, trans side leads between pin G and H, 44k ohmes @ 59 deg F (scanner reading), ran engine ohmes steady decreased as temperature raised. 2.721k...
I am trying to locate a detailed wiring schematic of the transmission temperature circuit. Does anyone know of a web site to download one or does someone have one they can post? I’ve been looking for manufacture shop manuals but they are pricy.
I got the resistance vs temp chart today and tested the old parts. The manifold tested to specs, the continuity of the two pins tested good, and after plugging the harness into the manifold there was no significant difference. 4.9 K as apposed as 4.7 k. I'll try to get into the back of the trans...
I’ve been all over the trucks wiring harnesses and connectors. I stripped the main harness from the TCM to the under hood fuse box, from the fuse box to the back of the trans. I haven’t noticed anything. Cleaned and or replaced grounds.
I am going to pull the pan and test the manifold and...
Well, after putting things back together I turned the key. Nothing has changed, kinda doesn’t surprise me because I did not really find anything before going back together.
I’m done for the day…… I plan to check the remainder of the. Transmission harness and see what I might find there. In...
