    Exhaust swap

I'm wanting to put a bigger exhaust on our '97 and get rid of the soot catcher (cat) but funds right now are very limited. Our 93 parts dually has an aftermarket 4" exhaust on it and was thinking of using it. My question is will the down pipe fit up with minimal effort? I know that the 93 has...

No Start Issue - Heat Soak Issue?

Bernie My 97 has started developing the same hard start symptoms this last week when the temperature has been 100 plus outside. Driving it with the A/C on running errands and then letting it sit for 30-45 minutes, it'll crank but not catch. The last was yesterday, 105 sitting in full sun and...

    Brake drag/lock up

I replaced the front brake hoses today and installed new bleeder valves (Russell speed valves ROCK!!), got everything bled and the truck seems fine. We'll have to see if this was the culprit!

First trip with the new dually

Orrum, Racer55, I had a mechanical pressure gauge on the 93 right before the drain/test cock but I think I'm going to put an electrical one in the cab on the 97. I've looked at the adapter that PMC Cable has on their website, but think I'll put the sender right before the IP.

First trip with the new dually

GM Guy, The IP went south on the 93 and was going to cost close to a grand to rebuild (that was the best price of the 3 shops close to us so I didn't have to pay for shipping), that along with numerous "little" things here and there that needed fixed. We found the 97 here in town for a great...

    Brake drag/lock up

Thefermanator, Yes this was the '97. AK - That is a good idea since I tried to collapse the caliper piston without cracking the bleeder and it would not move....

    Brake drag/lock up

Went to take off this morning for our weekend and the left front brake was locked up tight. I got a jack under it and the wheel off and nothing looked out of place. I checked the fuse for the ABS and it was fine, looked everything over and could not find the reason. I ended up cracking the...

First trip with the new dually

Going to pull our camper for the first time with the '97 this weekend and was wondering, I've never pulled this thing with an automatic, is there anything I need to know or any "tricks" to pulling with the auto? Our '93 had the HD 5 speed in it, so it was a "no brainier" to pull with it. Our...

    EGT Probe Placement

So the Kennedy site says when mounting pre turbo - to do it with the engine idling. I don't know if I'd want the chips running through my turbo...

    EGT Probe Placement

When I bought our first 6.5 back in '06, I read all over the internet that the EGT probe needed to be located in the exhaust manifold right before the turbo to get an accurate reading. Now years later I have seen people put the probe either post turbo or in the crossover pipe (Heath part #...

    ODB II Code P0251

Truck seems to be running fine this morning. Went to the parts store and got some Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant and added the suggested dosage to the tank. I'm a big user of Lucas products, so we'll see if the code comes back. Thanks again for all the replies, I know I can count on a sensible...

    ODB II Code P0251

I did on the first fill up ( only have had to fill it up twice since we got it last month). I put some Diesel 911 in the first tank just incase the dealer we got it from put junk or contaminated fuel in it. The second tank was straight BP fuel from a reputable station near the house.

    ODB II Code P0251

My 97 stalled tonight waiting at a stop sign and the SES light came on and stayed on. Got it started and drove it Autozone so they could put scanner on it for me. It came up as code P0251 which is "Injection Pump Cam System". Can anyone explain in a little more detail what I'm looking at...
