yes, and it weighed about roughly 7500 with me in it and my on board 'stuff'. coincidentally my 2wd , auto,91(with 3.07 & a few pump tweaks) ran a best of 15.3 before i sold it. I still have my 5 speed 91. LOL, crossy
15.2@88
Had edge box set on #4 of 5. truck has stock intake tranny etc. dpf delete with a banks muffler. that's it. if the dang converter would lock in the top two gears, instead of just hanging there with the engine governor at redline, it would be in the 14's. crossy
The turbo that I JUST installed did seem to cure it. it's not a 'road' truck at this point, I bought this bucket truck just to trim my own trees ,but all the idle smoke stopped and Docdray hooked me up with a fine turbo. This is now the quietest 6.5 I've ever heard. thanx for the help/input...
I bought a GM-4 with TM off a member already. thats all i need for this putt around work truck. most time on this is spent idiling. I'll be baaaack if the smoking don't stop after the turbo swap. thanx for the help, crossy
yeah, we ( the DTR first gen'rs), followed that article and the guy who owns the truck is now a DTR member. On the PRE intercooled models (89-91.5) the upgrade injectors are not only worth about 25 HP instead of the claimed 60HP because they are rated for replacement of the 91.5-93 injectors...
Absolutely- the early 89-91 NON intercooled trucks have bigger(more) fuel injectors and hop up cheap. With a SLIGHT & CHEAP upgrade in your turbo you can make another 50/100 on top of that number. I had a friend that JUST sold a 1990 Dodge Cummins airport tug with only around the equivalant...
It's a 94 6.5TD 'F' engine and I bought it knowing it was hurt. engine starts and runs OK, but belches pure white smoke at idle that does not smell like anti freeze, but does smell like exhaust. do the turbo seals go bad on these and let it suck in engine oil like some of the 80's mopar turbo...
for about $50 TOTAL. you can turn a 89-91 6bt into a 3200 RPM engine that makes about 275/600 and not a bit of electronics to deal with.
Knowing how to tweak the pump is the key. it amzed me what we did with a bucket o- bolts 91 i had. It went from 18 second quarter miles to LOW 15's with...
