    6.5 has me lost

I would recommend one step at a time. You should have codes from the Assembly Line Diagnostic Link (ALDL). Grounding test terminal "B" to terminal "A", ignition switch "ON". The Service Engine Soon light on the instrument panel will flash with the code, One flash - pause - and then two flashes...

    '95 Engine build

Been there, done that! Main bearing web cracked through OTBD threaded fastener holes and broke, unsupported crank followed. Happened in 2007 with 135,000 miles on truck running 15 pounds of boost for three years on a 21:1 compression engine.

Fluiddamper is great, I've had no issues since 2004! If the old damper is removed with a puller from the outer diameter (IT IS TOAST - DON'T USE IT!!!).

Okay, sorry Will L. I miss read about the wire wheel on a drill, just valve cover, not head!!!

Maybe on a head and engine that is coming apart. Don't let debris get all over your valve springs and down oil drains!

    '95 Engine build

Been there, done that! If you wouldn't mind telling us: How many miles on the engine? What performance upgrades did it have? How much boost pressure did it see? 21:1 compression ratio? Stock lower end, no girdle or heavy duty splayed main bearing caps? Was it used for heavy towing, especially...

4l80e and the differences between years

Well, yes it would be expensive. I'm not really interested in engine braking. Just commenting about trans kit that would give you 1-3 Torque Converter deceleration assistance. If you wanted OD decel (braking) you could get it with a Gear Vender splitter transmission. I have been thinking about...

4l80e and the differences between years

You can buy transmission adapters to AN- 5 or 6. I upgraded my 5/16" to 3/8" (AN-6) and flared 3/8" stainless steel tubing. I got rid of the radiator and aux-transmission coolers and upgraded to a Derale 40 row fan cooled trans-cooler. Transmission cooling was my weakest Link untill I made the...

4l80e and the differences between years

One way to get engine/trans braking in a pseudo-O.D. would be to use the Gear Vendor O.D. in 3rd. gear. That would likely be about half way between 3rd. and regular O.D. since the Gear Vendor is a gear splitter. If you ran larger circumferance tires that would also get you closer to stock O.D...

    Water pump recommendations

Greetings Will L, I can understand that you are passionate against the FlowKooler, you may be right, I have no experience with them. I try to stay with OEM unless it has been substantiated that something else is better, like turbos and open down pipes. As to “head pressure” I think FlowKooler...

    Water pump recommendations

There is a different WP for 2000+ 6.5's that balances flow? I would be interested in any information on that!

    Water pump recommendations

I'm getting a bit lost about the various water pumps. I always thought the 1997 and on water pump was the 130 gpm pump and was the best one to buy. Can someone explain the various pumps? "Balanced flow", "spin on", and "H.O." get me confused. It is all very interesting though. One point...
