The Dorman injector return line kit is total and absolute garbage.

First off it's the old style that is not the clampless style. They were a pain to install but i figured that i'd never have to mess with them again until i bought new injectors.

Boy was I wrong....

After 2 maybe 3 months, they are all badly cracked and leaking. :pissed: Dry-rot perhaps? Maybe they are not made for the ULSD fuel? I find that hard to believe as the ULSD has been around for a good while now.

Just a word of warnings guys, don't waste your money. Buy from a supporting vendor. The price may be a little higher, but with higher price comes higher quality.

Sorry to hear that Dave. I still have another 5,000 miles on my injectors before I'm even going to CONSIDER replacing them, but its always good to know what to avoid and what to go for. Did you use the dorman return line kit on the Blazer or the truck?

Speaking of which, how is the Blazer coming along? Havent bugged you about that in a while.

Hey BBC. I used these lines on the blazer. There are Heath return lines on my pickup. No leaks on the pickup, but that's no surprise really as his stuff is top notch.

Blazer's doing very well other than this fuel leak i'm having. Took it offroading the other day. Talk about a rough ride. I think my head hit the ceiling at least twice. Mud was up to the center of the hubs. :D

Speaking of projects how's the Dana 44 swap going? Not sure about jersey, but it'll be snowing here in CT in a month or so.

I bought a set from some place on the bay called badger diesel. They were clampless lines but they were encased in a braided fabric material. I was pleased with the tight fitment. Hopefully they arent the same ones...

No they aren't. the ones i have say "china" on them in white lettering along with some part numbers. They also do not have the braiding on them. I"m betting that's partly why they are all cracked. the heat from the engine probably doesn't help. That's when it seems to leak. after driving and i park the truck that's when i see the drips on the ground. If i let it sit for a while, it stops leaking. It doesn't leak when running it seems, unless i just can't see it.

I can't think of anything else that could be leaking. the fuel line from the filter to the IP is brand new as is the one form the electric LP to the filter. it runs very smooth so theres no air in the system. supply and return lines along the frame look fine as well and they are not wet at all.

I think i saw them on the bay, but i opted for another foot or so of line just in case, so thats why i spent the extra 6 bucks for the braided..

I also get mine from Tim. He was a site vendor on the old site as well. It's a dipaco kit he sells I just bought one about two weeks ago for my CUCV.

there's notting wrong with the stock tubing ,I just cut the ends of the tubes, they are plenty long for a second go around. They work just ducky without the clamps.they have the same grip or better than the clampless tubing.I did not got any leaks yet after many years like that on my 89 and 2 yrs on the 95

Dorman

While Dorman is being discussed, their 6.5 balancers and crank pulleys are also made in China and the rubber on those don't last either. Dorman has apparently went down the crapper!! IMO I bought a set from NAPA and after 2 years both were cracked. :mad2:

Ah crap.....I"ve got a dorman balancer and crank pulley on my 6.5. Dorman's stuff has gone down the crapper it seems.

Gotta love companies that hunt for the people that'll make the product the cheapest, whether its' china, india, indonesia, vietnam, etc. Quality control? What's that? :pissed:

You'd think at least one of the suppliers would understand that us diy guys would spend a little extra if we knew we were getting good parts.

I have also run a few stock lines without clamps without leaks.

A study was done( I wish I could find it) that showed if chinese made goods were held to our standards they would not be able to compete with us....HELLO!!!!
YA THINK ???

so once again it's just our suppliers screwing us so they can pocket the diff

Its the good ol' Lowest Bid game.... problem is, corners are cut in order to get the bids.

For alot of giant retailers, they beat the suppliers up so much on the price, that if there is a problem with the product, they simply have to eat it.

This in turn, makes quality control go right out the window, since the supplier is off the hook for defective product.

Its a snowballing effect that flat out sucks globally.

Even worse, it makes good companies tough to break into the market.

Its like the Yankees buying themselves another World Series.... How can a team that doesn't have unlimited funding compete? They can't....

Can't pay because they don't win.

Can't win because they can't compete with teams that take advantage of no salary cap to buy world series championships.

.... Shame...

Sorry ACE, I dont believe that one bit.
Foreign(Chinese or elswhere) companies will make parts to specs and procedures provided by the the ordering(usually American)party. If their specs are substandard, then they get what they ordered.
Blame the state side companies for selling, and consumers for buying it.
No one forces one to buy anything.

Its all about profit.

May not be forced but sometimes there is no other option. Also no way of knowing what the quality is until it's too late.
