What is Sulastic ?

SULASTIC is an elastic (rubber spring) suspension that reduces and in many cases totally removes the vibration and shock caused by the leaf spring suspension, improving safety and overall handling of the vehicle.


Key benefits

-Increase in vehicle stability by 20% to 30% increasing the angle for turn-over by 4 to 6 degrees

-Reduction in vehicle vibrations by 60% to 80% while significantly reducing excessive tire temperature caused by excessive vibrations

-Reduction in braking distances by 10% to 20% keeping all 4 tires on the road during braking

-Increase in driver control by stabilizing vehicle weight over all 4 tires





Sulastic Shackles in my words:
Sulastic shackles basically are rubber isolators that takes the top heavy spring rate off these 3/4 & 1 ton trucks when driving down the highway or city streets. In a way making your factory spring into a "progressive" style ride and at the same time not reducing your spring weight capacity.

I run the Sulastic Shackles and my personal spec'd Bilstein (Zinc) 5100's for daily driving and when I pull my fifth wheel trailer (about 18k) I have AirLift helper bags to accommodate the heavy fifth wheel pin weight. Great ride to the point that my family and I really do enjoy driving the truck for short or long trips.

I have the same rear setup as Nick as he spec'd it out for me when I did the 4-6" Cognito in front. Like he said, it makes the long trips more enjoyable for the family because it really takes out all the :boxing_smiley:"kidney shots" that were a killer with the stock suspension espacially in the back seat. Everybody that rides with me comments on how nice this 1 ton rides.

Took a trip from NY to CA with Mom and without the Shackles. While in CA I had Nick's guys put a set on. Leaving CA to NY my Mom said what did you do to the truck it feels smoother and I didn't tell her I was having something done.

Very, very smooth ride. I would highly recommend a set for anyones truck.

Do these lower the rear height like the Velvet Rides used to? What's the cost? Please pm me if prices aren't allowed in threads. I need them desperately.

Hey nick...even though I am selling the dodge, would these give it a little lift in the rear to try and even it out? It rides Cali style a little bit, I need to get the ass end up in the air a little bit.

I think what I'm reading is that these eliminate the "long bed dually" hop that you get on the freeway with no load. Is that correct? Please PM me the price and availability also. My truck will bounce you to d eath on these LA Freeways.........especially the stretch on 101 in Camarillo! OMG it's the worst of all! Also I'm assumming my rear Frederico Stabilizers won't be affected..correct?

That's the only thing that I dislike about my rig. I came out of a Tahoe, so I'm a little spoiled, but it rides like a damn gravel train. Better than my dodge, much better than the F350, but still NO DAMN GOOD. Anyone around me got these springs? I'd love to see them in action. If it helps, I'd be more than game for buying a set. How bad are they to install?

Thanks for the feedback. They sound great! I haul a 4000 lb Lance slide in camper with my truck. It's actually on the truck a lot more than it's off the truck. With the boat tongue weight I'm about 300 lbs over GVW which is 11,400lbs IIRC. I am wondering how they will handle that kind of weight on a daily basis and if there have been many failures. They look pretty stout from the pics but it's hard to tell until you get one in your hand.

The install looks pretty simple according to the link provided by Nick.

We saw them add about 5/8's but then settled down to only add over all about 1/4" if that.

Yes they do. A dually owner really needs to use these. No issue's with his sway bars.

I just posted another question Nick about failure rate since I haul my 4000lb Lance 90% of the time. If these things aren't failing and you think they will last hauling around this Camper of mine ...........You can count me in!

Every guy I know with a Long bed crew cab complains about the hop. I going to tell a few people I know.....I'll put a link in the Dually Club Thread
