Hello everyone,
I want to buy a truck so that I can carry goods, for family work. My need is to carry goods in the 1.5 -2 tons range. So what kind of truck should I buy to match? Hope everyone give advice.
Thanks everyone.

With that kind of weight it would also be helpful to know volume. That's not alot of weight really I've had 2300 lbs in the back of my truck. How often do you need to haul it? Does it need to be protected from the elements? Would a trailer be adequate?

Well, lets see...
You said you were a truck driver iirc, so obviously have a cdl.
You said we’re sure about 2 wheel drive in the snow,
And since you didn’t mention preferred gas or diesel, a multifuel would be good. (Plus when fuel gets higher you can burn almost anything in it
And want to carry 2 tons, but also room for a family- but we don’t know if that is you and spouse only or a ton of kids.
Since there are multiple places around the country that do multi door, bob or stretch to length, bed to as needed length-
The clear cut winner is- a modified duece and a half. M35A2.

some examples of options, but remember they can be done any way you want.94D18CC5-BB08-466D-A25D-3EDC8E449544.png45A7DA26-B457-4AB1-888A-D375D43C612B.pngDA1F40F3-6C91-4C35-A71F-C764B71EA596.png

Next step down is what I actually bought- A hummer. But I added a roof to mine.
I suggest an hmco which is 4 door soft top like mine was. Or hmc4 which is hard top 4 door.
But the bed is really small on the 4 doors, but perfect for things like a goose neck trailer, Or carrying a pallet with a lot of weight.

You can literally choose the springs you want and have it ride baby smooth or go offroad with 2 tons in the bed! But it is a stiffer ride.

plus, it is not like you will loose much it any money having it for a few years. My 1995 sold new for 49,995. With nice paint iob and no major issues- the price on those is usually 50-65k. And the hmco(soft top) was the bottom of the class. The 2006with the duramax fully loaded was something like 125,000 new and now get 200,000 all the time. If you sell it to someone overseas the price goes up 30% and yes they pay all the shipping.

Not all places allow it, but many do- an actual hmmwv. I know guys that bought them for $7,000 and have under 20,000 miles on them. There are businesses that get them from the government auction, throw in $15k and sell them for 100k. But other guys like my friend Eric, just buys it and gives it a paint job (instead of the military camo) and drives the heck out of them. If you search web and see 2 kayaks on top (in many locations around the country) and in calendars and such- that is probably him.

Or are you wanting a tiny pickup like a Toyota or Ford Ranger

You ask one question in each of your threads you start, but never give any details when asked questions or responses.
So that’s why some of the guys are thinking you are just trolling. Like maybe in a teenage contest with your friends who can get the most responses in two days. So if that’s the case- here is 3 I gave you to help.

If you want a more specific answer then you need to give more specifics a out your situation.
Like, can you only afford $2,500 or are you up for $250,000 investment?
What are you doing that you need to haul a family (personally I think of 4-6 people) and have to haul 2 tons but don’t say if it is a tote of water like in a 300 gallon IBC tote, or loads of gravel for redoing your property often so a live bed or dump bed is ideal.

How about room to fit the truck- are you in a new small garaged home with hoa where it has to fit in a tiny garage or can you park a Peterbilt out front?

Do you care if it is the slowest truck in your town, like the early 80’s 6.2 diesel 1 ton duelly? Or you want bragging rights and like the newest duramax that can blow the doors off many sports cars even when stock?

It’s like you are on a cooking forum and ask - what should I make- I am really hungry but don’t want to gain weight. Then no other information. So your choices are fish, beef, pork, pasta, vegetables, fruit, nuts, grain, dairy. Notice I didn’t include chicken. No one should ever eat chicken. Why aren’t those extinct and farmers/ranchers raising more good stuff ?!?
Oh wait- did I just mention something else- yeah... PREFERRED TASTE. Bruh, what do you like- not like?

Then there is all the electric options- which after Biden’s dumb move for the entire fleet- will become less available for citizens but when completed, and the personal market has crashed because instead of tayloring it to what consumers want they will all be making crap to meet to government contract- most people wont want. Like- look at my first two posts if you don’t see how.

So go drop 90k into a burmuda err.. a tesla triangle truck. It won’t haul 2 tons in the bed, but can trailer it super easy. Comfortable ride from what I hear and super fast. Granted you need to tow a huge generator if you want to go camping or take a normally trip across country. (I wonder if they can be charged and drive at the same time). And I am pro electric btw- but the use is honestly really limited. Btw- I think Musk is pressed for time sobad he goes with whoever turns in complete drawing first. So when he was announcing in the meeting, trying to talk slow for dramatics what the next model vehicle was to be...
He said “Aaaa Nnnneeeeewwww TTTRRRR...” and the guy next to him, already having draw. The 2 wheels, jumpped the gun and thought he was gonna say “triangle “.

But really- gas, diesel, or electric?

Bruh- details....

For those other grey hairs like me that had to learn the new vernacular-
“Bruh” is what the teenagers (which I am beginning to think is the case here, like some others)
This is the new term for Bro. See also: brother, dude, man, feller, guy, buddy

btw, my 15 year old and his bruh’s do this where they go onto an active forum of any kind- and try to get the most responses, the funniest responses, and of course yelled at by a “Karen”. Which is hilarious to me because my good friends growing up John & Dave had a mom named Karen, and well- she must be who they chose the name from by how she never held back...

so bruh- yall dojng word count competition? Or are you for real? Answer some questions

PS. I feed trolls till they puke.
