I have 95 k2500 with 6.5td and the water system is staying pressurized any info on what could cause this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Have you hooked up a pressure tester to the system, if so what pressure is it running at? 15-16 is a good thing. How long does it hold pressure? What temp ?

Running is normal to have pressure. Does it boil over and loose coolant? These engines take a long time to cool off typically overnight.

Havent checked the pressure it is running around 190f and will hold the pressure till i take radiator cap off. It boils over and will start doing it as soon as the truck is started

Water boils at 212, but every 1 pound of pressure it is under raises boiling point by about 3 degrees allowing the engine to coolant to not boil off until a higher temperature.

Btw, don't believe the red line location on your gauge. That is too high and is responsible for many dead engines. 230 is panic time.

I have been getting some white smoke at startup and the upper radiator hose gets hard after a minute or two of running could this be caused by a headgasket or air leak in the water system?

Iirc you can pull your tstat housing and watch for bubbles out either head. That way you don't HAVE TO pull both.

I just took the truck out and the temp gauge kept jumping from 190 to 260 so i would pull over and the temp would drop down and stay their so i would take back off and after about five minutes it would do it again. My heat would quit working when temp got over 230. It lost about two gallons of antifreeze in about ten miles. Suggestions on what would cause this?

Would either one cause it to get water in the oil? Its not getting any in it right now just asking incase it does.

Not always ,but could. If it did Look for milky oil.
If you start it cold and the rad hose gets hard right away you have problems. Cracked head/block, blown head gasket.
X2 on Tanner.

You can get a complete 6.2 low mile take out engine for $1500. A 6.5 is a bored out 6.2 with nearly everything that matters identical. Add new rings, head studs and back on the road for under $2000.00. The longer your engine sits waiting for repair the more likely you get damage from rust. The advice to pull the crossover should be followed so you know what side to really look at.

Coolant in the oil from a blown head gasket or cracked head will ruin the engines quick from wear. You also risk hydrolocking or bending a rod from coolant entering the cylinder.

You got something putting a lot of gas in the cooling system preventing it from working. You have no choice but to try and fix it now. Mod your cooling system while you are at it with a 9 blade fan, new fan clutch, HO water pump all off a 1998 model. Other options out there.
