Welcome aboard Chris! I agree with Marty and Jaryd, it sounds like the TCC lockup solenoid not releasing. best to check you codes on the PCM. if you don't have access to a scanner, you can pickup a cheapy bluetooth one a local wally world (walmart) or some of the auto parts houses. I bought a Micro Mechanic at our local walmart for about $20 and got an app called car scanner pro on my phone. the app that comes with the scanner is blah... car scanner pro works decent for most vehicles and will help you diagnose problems, also let you see live data.

the trick is to see in the live data if the PCM is commanding the TCC solenoid on or off. I'm not sure on 454's but I'd be careful, I have seen other engines get the crank and / or flexplate busted due to the TCC not releasing

even if you have one of the local auto parts houses read the codes for you, post up the results and we will be happy to help :)
