IP timing - Incredibly Nervous

I can see myself waking up in the middle of the night with sounds of valves shattering until this engine is actually running.

I have a longblock and am installing the gears for the Injector pump.

Please have a look at these pictures and let me know if I am aligning everything correctly.
(In the second picture I was trying to show that the timing chain sprockets are aligned with each other and also with the IP gear)

How on earth does the IP know what cylinder to supply fuel to?
