I'm trying to trade an 86 F150 for, well, something else...

This guy has a 95 K2500 with a TH400 (maybe) and 1989 305 motor. 4wd.

According to his text "drive it every day fresh clean title 305 idk for trans 400 something auto 4x4"

From a quick google scan, it appeared the 305 is comparable to the 6.2 (maybe future swap possible?) - what are your thoughts on the combo?

(I never know where to put general questions on a complete vehicle - so admins - move it if it needs moved please.)

Looks like a semi floater rear axle so its a light 3/4 ton IMO its a heavy half ton. 3 speed auto I wouldn't expect very good fuel mileage 11-13 MPG depending on how you drive???? How many miles on the rig? Its kind of ugly so under the hood and drivetrain would have to look really clean and I doubt it. I would look at what its going to need over the next 50K miles brakes, tires, front end parts, and what little things you might like fixed ? Guestimate $1,000-1,500???. Really any used vehicle should have $1000 in reserve for unforeseen repairs. But at $1,200 value who wants to put another 1K into it. Typically trucks like this end up being a jalopy, scrap, or parts trucks kind of where this truck is at IMO. OK for a guy with a few parts trucks already or as a farm truck otherwise its likely a money pit unless you are willing to drive it to death and walk away.

I'd check and see what trans it has for sure but I'd just be looking at it as a rolling chassis.

When people shove carbed engines and old school trans into a newer EFI truck I start wondering what other corners were cut. It's not hard or impossible to straighten out a TBI truck with a 4l60 or 4l80. I've got one I'm working on too.
