6.2L timing chain at 24k miles (vid)

Was expecting to see some play. Got what I was after and then some. Was tight upon install 24,000 miles ago when I built the engine. May just leave it alone. Reason for teardown was a coolant leak from between the timing housing and block. Chain and gearset is a Cloyes.

Going to drill a cam oil galley plug with a .0625" drill I think. Maybe some extra lube will help.

Seems like a lot of slop but what I remember from the shop manual is 1/2 of slack measured with straight edge across the gear (from the bottom of the straight to the bottom of the chain at maximum stretch). I think that is crazy but I have measured two or three with various amounts of mileage (20k-180k) and they were all under that. Maybe that is why some guys swear by the gear drive for these motors.
