So I have a 89 sub with a brand new 350 that idles and revs really nice. But when I go to drive itll hold low rpm well but it wont shift to 2nd without popping out of the exhaust and almost stalling out. No check engine light except every once in a while itll pop up then go away. Base timing was set at 0 tdc without the wire plugged in. What should the timing read at running temp with the advance plugged in?

A problem with the icm, ignition control module, plug wires, distributor cap and fuel pump will not set a code.

1989 was my favorite body style. How many years did they run that? Seemed like for over a decade

That was still the square body but with the TB injection system. The best of all the worlds.
