Dad's 06 work truck had some trouble this morning running. We were at 9 degrees this morning and it started, he backed up about 20 feet and it died.

The priming pump on the head was soft, after I pumped it a few times it fired right back up. Seems the filter head needs rebuilt? I think I remember seeing this being pretty common, but wanted some opinions before I ordered a new one.

I agree with a filter head rebuild. I did mine some time ago. Pretty easy job. I don't remember where I bought the kit. Probably from DMaxStore or Tony Burkhart

I bought mine from Nictane.com years ago. I did away with the OEM filter and got the spin on head for CAT 1R0749 can filters. Very easy filter changes.

Quite a few have said not run the cat filters if it's your only filter in the fuel system. Most of the cat filters have no water seperating ability to them, and a few have had water get through them. Not to mention the load you add to the cp3's lift pump by running the 1 micron filter at the stock location. They're great when you already have an electric lift pump with it's own filters though.

Lol. Good point Ferman. I run the tall can in the rear. 1R0749. 2 lift pumps in the middle, and the Cat 1R0750 up front. The tall can does collect some water in the bottom.
