Is your fan on high even when your truck is off? you probably have a bad blower control module. You can pull the under hood fuse to shut it off while you get a new one.

89018778 old p/n is 52495874, I'm guessing they upgraded it....

$65 at GMpartsdirect

To replace:

Remove the cover from the HVAC box under the dash. locate the fan, it will have two wires going into it Black and Purple. Unplug the fan. Follow the wires to the control module. It will have a three wire plug, Black, Orange, and Purple. Unplug it. Remove the two screws and pull the module out. Reverse steps and you're in business. don't forget the fuse.
