I am looking for a truck on a budget. The K2500 in my signature was sold 3 years ago when I bought an ecoboost F150 as a main vehicle. I got tired of driving that in traffic and traded it for an SUV. Now I need another truck. I don't want to spend any more than about $3500. It will be run 2-3x...
1994, 4x4, 5.7 TBI, 4l80e trans, 4.10 gears. 250k miles. Approx 50k miles on the transmission and probably 15k on a head gasket/valve job.
Engine runs very smooth, transmission has nice firm shifts. Only mechanical issue is minor transmission leak. Won't leave a big spot on your driveway, but...
I'm gonna go after it tomorrow morning. Thanks 4 the replies.
I had it in at an exhaust shop for a new muffler and high flow cat yesterday. Much better but they missed this leak. It seems like the leak is actually a lot quieter though, maybe due to reduced back pressure. You can only hear it...
My tbi 5.7 '94 truck has a leaky exhaust manifold gasket. The previous owner did a head gasket replacement about 1.5 years ago and I suppose did not torque the exhaust manifold bolts down enough. Two were loose and causing the leak. I snugged them back up, but it still leaks. Gasket is toast...
Thanks.
I fixed this problem which has been getting worse for several months without turning a wrench. I went around and squirted corrosion-x on all the grounds, including the pass side head and the ground straps that hit the chassis near the pass side exhaust manifold. Problem is gone...
My truck is having some electrical gremlins. The symptoms lead me to believe bad grounds are causing my issues.
Speedometer goes nuts and randomly pegs. When I use turn signals the speedometer will jump around with the turn signals. When I give it throttle sometimes, the speedometer will act...
Thanks. I will check EGR first. I haven't touched it as I figured it would throw a code if it was bad. I have a service manual and will consult for a way to test the TPS and EGR.
Already checked all vacuum hoses carefully to make sure they are intact. Brake booster is hydro.

Trying to figure out what could be causing a sudden drop in the MPG of my truck. 94' TBI 5.7L 4x4 2500 suburban
About two weeks ago I noticed a hesitation/rough running right above idle throttle. This was preceded by a check engine light 44 - lean exhaust condition indicated. Two days later...
I used to like a flow master 50 on my v8 jeep. But probably need something quieter. The truck's main mission is now towing around a 24' boat that weighs 6000lbs.

Time for exhaust on this truck. Any recommendations for an inexpensive, quiet muffler? Going to do a new cat, muffler and maybe y pipe

We have a winner.
Mechanic called and said the area between the transfer case and transmission was full of fluid. He is replacing both the transmission output seal and transfer case input seal.
He told me he thought the transfer case seal might have been 'installed backwards" and that he was...
Transmission was shifting well and no burning smell noted. Fluid is nice and red. I checked when it was cold and it was within range on the dipstick. Haven't had the chance to drive the truck since noticing the leak yesterday.
T-Case rub... I know there is a "pump rub fix" for certain newer...
That's interesting. I'll look for the tcase vent.
I'm guessing if that was the case, when I pull the tcase fill plug, a bunch of fluid would run out. Correct?
Posting this for my Uncle...
He has a '99 suburban with 350. Its the "spider" fuel injection. 300,000 miles.
Was running okay. Now cranks but no start. Turns over, sounds normal, won't fire at all.
Fuel Pressure good, 60 psi when cranking
Good spark on one plug
Compressions 1, 3...
Nope. Where is the vent roughly?
I'm going to look at it this afternoon. Check Tcase fluid level too.. If I can't find it, going back to same shop tomorrow.
