    New 2.8L Colorado Duramax

I’m a 5 under kinda guy. Pedal to the floor, max speed, then back down 5 under max. Haha Then recently at 10-15 mph I totaled my wife escalade. Now insurance concerns has me doing what the signs say about 95% of the time. My hummer, top speed didn’t seem to affect mpg. Just how fast I...

    2004 Yukon XL 2500 LBZ

That carc is no joke, Be cautious. And yes, they were designed to dump. The mil instructions were to get out l, set both brakes, remove pins, and reverse to dump. Many guys would snag or loose a pin then they would have accidental dumps (the other kind of a.d.). So a bunch of bases made...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

May I suggest permatex right stuff or ultimate black or grey. I have never tried recreational vehicle cement- but a jackhammer for next removal might prove annoying..

    6.5l injectors clicking

Yeah, bleeding is basically loosen nut AND wiggle the line until you feel the line move in the injector. Then crank or start. Once you get 3-4 times is “spits” fuel out from under the nut, tighten nut while engine is still being cranked over by starter or engine is running. You have to purge...

    ARP main stud instructions

I had 2 people ask me about getting studs to the bottom of the holes. There are 3 styles of taps, and 3 variations of each. Somewhere out there is probably a great instruction sheet that teaches which is which and what they do. I don’t have one, I just know the differences. You have taper...

No. Loctite is to stop vibration, not to sieze the bolt or stud solid from moving. The forces of removing nut and allowing released tension of the threads would negate the loctite. Does the loctite hold it there still, yes. But not solid like you can disassemble and reassemble it afterwards...

    ARP main stud instructions

The loctite is good, but you are supposed to do it on assembly. Something old racer trick for soft bottom end was to mix heat ajb weld, then use it like thread locker. It surely held. I did a couple engines that way. But long term: jb weld expands and contracts at a different rate than the...

    ARP main stud instructions

On the chryo first thing- no because chryo makes it take more time and more force to wear the metal. This is opposite of what’s desired to elevate brittleness. A reamer is a great idea. Where is my MSC catalog? Haha. There should be a speed and feed rate for the material and amount coming...

Off to Cryogenic processing she goes..

Competition and other options can be a good thing sometimes.

About the the holes being smaller sized, My knowledge of metal work is limited. But the more you work any metal the worse the hardening and brittleness gets. So if you have a simple drill bit that has a depth stop, like a drill press pre adjusted for instance, so you could take out that...

    ARP main stud instructions

3 reasons for studs. 1. Greater clamping force to withstand excessive pressure of crank ripping caps away from block- not our issue. Like ever. With out journal size and rod size- you will break a Couple other things before this is a possibility. Ask if anyone needs more info. 2. Main webs...

    ARP main stud instructions

Ok, how many threads is something that comes up. ASE, ARP, Moroso, etc all say minimum is 7 threads on bolts or studs for full strength. You may have more threads in contact, but in most cases only 7 does any good. Getting the studs to the bottom of the hole means approx 13 in contact, the...

    Tire Reviews

Chalk strip them tires and find the right pressure for your load, or lack there of. Safer, better mpg, better tire life. Only cost is time... Most run empty one presure, then if they have a trailer or something, learn the second pressure for that.

    ARP main stud instructions

Something I meant to mention earlier and missed: The 10 studs adjacent to the crankshaft, if I had simply install them and ran them- Only three threads per stud would’ve been holding it. I would’ve been lucky To drive 1 month before the crankshaft ripped out of the bottom of the engine. I...

    ARP main stud instructions

If the studs fit your engine = can nearly bottom out with light shoulder or shank contact: It is perfectly ok, desired for all holes actually, to lightly chamfer the edges. Sharp corners enhance cracking. Inside or outside edges, holes, etc should always be chamfered, rounded edges. If you...

    ARP main stud instructions

Just realized Quickest answers / issues should have been first. DO NOT LET THE SHOULDER OR SHANK OF THE STUD CONTACT THE BLOCK. DO NOT LET THE BOTTOM OF THE STUD CONTACT THE BLOCK. ALL THE WAY IN, UNSCREW 1/8 - 1/4 TURNOUT. NEVER APPLY ANY TORQUE OF STUD INTO BLOCK FOR MAINS UNLESS IN FULLY...

This is gonna go full book, tune out or get popcorn... Give me sometime between posts, I type slower than a stock 6.2 overloaded up a hill... So want to update folks. Need to caution anyone not familiar with studs so they know what to watch for. The stud kit didn’t work for me, But first...

    No bueno

Throttle body is a great idea. Add a strong spring and trigger release cable or solenoid and your there. Having cut my teeth on 71 series- I like a simple cable. So much of the older equipment -that cable was it’s only method of shut down. Push the cable in and crank to start, often a push...
