2000 K3500, 6.5 turbo diesel.
The factory hose/pipe has been removed and it now has a 3/4” hose from the T-Stat cross over to the heater core.
Coming right off the heater core nipple, about four to five inches distance there is the exhaust down pipe.
Trying to clean some appearance of what it...
I believe that You have the better solution.
I’m kind of lacking in the sponge supply in My garage but I will keep that in mind next time I see a sale on sponges.
Sad but true.
Have His mom watching Him on a hill side. Women know how to scream out NOOOOOOO when a child is about to endanger themselves.
Several times of those NOOOOOOOO statements and it then will be engrained in his mind about, do not turn on hillsides. 🤷♂️
I checked down through all of the intake ports and none of the piston return springs was missing. The piston return springs are a little longer and smaller in diameter and not nearly as stout looking as this one.
I now am thinking that this spring must have come from a sprung thermostat sometime...
I’m thinking it had to have came out of the T-Stat housing when I pulled it off.
With as long as I have been messing with this engine over the course of the last month or two, I would have seen that spring before now, if it had been laying where it was.

T-Stat cross over off...
Be sure to plug the exhaust down pipe and the turbo flange ports. I dropped a drift punch down the down pipe and had to disconnect it down underneath to get that critter recovered.
I could have left it in there to rattle around, didnt think I’d like that too much though. 🤷♂️😹😹😹
The heat shield on My 2000 has two tabs on the injector pipe bracket that the heat shield plugs into those two tabs.
Then there is two small screws that holds it at the top near where the injector tubes mounts to the bracket.
I think I dont like this new “ Right Stuff “ gasket adhesive sealer.
It now is grey in color and is almost as thin as Honda Bond adhesive.
I started out with the old dispenser container of black right stuff. It run out.
Went to the parts store to get another container, the jug was larger in...
Got both rocker covers offt.
On this go round, I will figure a way to get sealer on the rear ends of the cylinder heads.
I must say, it was a blitch getting the pulley removed from the PS pump but it now is accomplished.
That should end the struggle of getting that cover for the left side...
