    The egr port is tied to only one cylinder so move the # 4 injector and see if it follows the skip, if no change move the # 6 injector and check... it's a dead hole so rule out the injectors first before moving to the IP... the smoke is unburnt fuel....

    That's a valley drain tube used on manual tranny motors so stuff doesn't drain on the clutch...

    If that was a "new" crate motor it must have been new 20yrs ago and the crate was left open... Still, it could be in good shape inside but it will have small pre cups and non coated pistons I would think...

    Another 6.5 rebuild...

    Well you could spend a bunch of cash on a "rebuild" on a known risky block & head, GM, GEP, they all crack at some point. Or you could spend that much on a crate P400 that is a much much stronger platform, add some cash in mods and have a motor that you will still be running years from now...

    What clearance did you have. Rule is .050" but these will be less. As far as i know their is no published spec.

    Doubtful, the extra material in the p400 heads is inside under the seat area... The valves in the p400 are thicker than the others.... Don't really know why the valves are closer but they are...

    What different alternators would be needed for our trucks, have a look on powermasters web site and see what would be preferred. I have a meeting with them soon and would like to be able to list the preferred ones.
