Your towing trailers, I'd get at least a 3/4 ton. You'll get better frame better brakes etc, and a higher tow capacity. If you are involved in an accident and have exceeded the tow ratings from the manufacturer the lawyers will have a field day with you.

Basically sits on the rubber with a vertical bolt going through it . Cross section is T shaped so there is rubber surrounding the bolt too.

Also the oil leaks could be coming from the oil filter adapter, they are known to leak
