I pull the top 2 clips from the inner fender and then fold it down. It is by far the easiest way to do it. ( as long as you have to tools to pull the clips out)
And yes, the WIF sensor can be a pain without the wrench to unscrew it from the filter.

I would assume that they can be replaced. As far as what all is entailed in changing them I do not know. Maybe someone else can chime in that has had one of the control heads apart.
I'd say the biggest difference might be the harness connections and maybe a few other minor things like that, but essentially I'd say that they are probably the same.
