Mine took a dump last year. I was able to get a better deal on the pump at a AC Delco parts store but I still had to pony up 700 bucks installed. It still hurts...:toothache:
Wrecker I hear what you are saying and I agree about standard recommendations, but this isn't really what I'm asking. What I would like from the vendors is: Here are the products I have and this is when I would use them. For example, there are several kinds of gear oil that Amsoil offers, which...
I've been looking around on the site for this kind of information and it seems that it is spread out over many threads over many years.
With some recent changes and new knowledge about our trucks, it would be nice if some of the vendors and or pros would give us a fluid guide for maintaining...
So do you think it is in GM's best interest to rid itself of Government control? I don't think so. Obamanation can't let such a huge investment concern go belly up, how would that look. GM's investors have little or no influence with government in the picture. And GM has all that free money to...
I used to get several, but they were getting to be just like the car mags, all running the same stories. So I picked one, Diesel Power. Every now and then I will pick up one of the other mags because of an article, but one is enough.
OnEdit: I too liked Truck Trend. I enjoyed the Diesel News...
I run 8 oz. of Stanadyne Performance Formula and 4 oz. of Stanadyne Lubricity Formula in each tank. I know a lot of guys run stuff like motor oil, ATF, 2-stroke, etc. and I guess as long as the filters, oil, and exhaust can handle whatever is left over from burning that stuff is ok. I'm at 70K +...
Kelley Blue book has this for specifications on Suburbans:
1992 suburban
Maximum GVWR - 6800
Maximum Towing - 7000
1994 suburban
Maximum GVWR - 6800
Maximum Towing - 10000
Don't know if this is due to suspension changes or just better powertrains in the later model.
I hope that fixes your AC problem, but my '01 did the same thing, work for awhile then the air would just drop off. Mine turned out to be one of the pressure switches...I can't remember which one either the high or low pressure switch. Good luck with the filters.
Yeah, if you're handy with a wrench it's not that tough, however, if you have to shorten the driveshaft that needs to be done by a professional. Or you can take the measurements and have one made. $$$$$$
Not sure what application you want this for, but installing a GV unit is fairly straight forward. Some apps. need to have the driveshaft shortened. There are some electronics involved with the GV unit that allows you to just turn it on and let it shift automatically for you. The 4l80e may not be...
Never had one, but did a lot of research for my 94 Dually...ended up getting a new '01 Duramax...
Anyways, from what I found out the GV unit is very strong and reliable being able to survive quite nicely behind 1200lbs of torque and whatever you are towing or hauling.
The only real...
Take the hood off and run it through the car wash....):h
Seriously, maybe a power washer that has an adjustable head to turn down the pressure, or a good nozzle on the hose. Either way there is gonna be some elbow grease involved.
That car wash idea is startin' to sound purty good right...
