I just had my truck detailed and the detail shop "detailed" the underhood area. The following day I began having hard starts (slow engine turn-over). When it it did finally start the red battery light stayed on and the guages did not register, then after a few seconds the battery light goes out...
Oh Crap!!! Sorry 12Guage, I didn't realize you had a Dodge Ram....:pat: I usually read the sigs but I just ASSUMED and well...ya know. However, it still holds true that your ABS issue could be from a speed sensor or a bad ground, but I am less sure about the ground.
Yes it could be. It could also be the ground connection for the EBCM, and it could be the EBCM and/or pump. Get it scanned (Tech II) and hopefully it will tell you for sure, and I think it will even tell you which speed sensor to change....if that's the problem.
Before getting it scanned do...
My wife's '04 Suburban is due for a gear oil change for the front and rear diffs, transmission, and the transfer case. Any recommendations?
I use Transynd in my '01 3500 Allison and my xfer case, would this work for the Suburban's 4L80E and xfer case as well?
Hey Mike, I hate to be dense and all, but I was in there lookin' at this stuff and I pulled the connector apart (up by shock mount) checked it, then put it back together and put dielectric grease on the connector where the wires go into the connector. The speed sensor itself looks like it is...
Figures, I don't drink coffee...:hihi:
I have been reading about Diamler and another compnay working on fuel from any kind of bio waste. Can you say Flux-Capaciter...
I used the Valvoline Syn Power synthetic grease when I did my pins. I can't vouched for it though because I just did them a month or two ago. Time will tell.
Thanks fellas! I will check out that harness. As far as the corrosion is concerned, did you have to remove the sensor and clean it, or did you just buy a new one, or....?
Last week I was driving and applied the brakes to hit the on-ramp to I68 and my ABS light and the Brake Light both illuminated. No issues braking and after a second restart no lights. Now over the weekend and today it has come on and gone off 3 times. EFI says no codes, owner's manual says take...
Just an update. I bought a case of the Baldwin filters and they came really fast and at a really great price. I have gone back to that site several times but found the site down. I sent an email to ask what's up. Got a response that some low life hacked their site and destroyed the software...
I was thinking the same thing. I think the head goes for 90 bucks, but if I'm saving 18 or 20 dollars every time I change the filter it would pay for itself in a couple of years, plus, as good or better filtration, or at least better than the old style factory filter. Something else comes to...
That's who I get them from now, or at least the pre-OEM filter, $28 not too bad. I also bought the kit from Greg. I'm just looking for a better alternative for the factory filter once my old filter stash is depleated. When I bought the case of older style filters they were about $18 each...
Yep, you're right Paul. K68. So, I have a 105 amp alternator, now to look for the belt. I've got time only 50K miles on this one. My tentioner went bad at aroun 12k and they replaced belt and tensioner under warranty
I'm about to run out of the cheap (old) fuel filters so that is the reason for looking at different filters. Maybe what I need to do is find a different filter for the pre-OEM? Gonna have to ponder this. Thanks for the different perspective.
Man! Talk about "ask and you shall receive" Thanks...
Well.....I don't know. Is there an RPO code that will tell me that? I guess I could dig out the window sticker. Seems like all of the Diesels would be 145 amps with 2 batteries and all.
I have a secondary pre-OEM Racor filter setup on my truck and I still use the OLD factory filters (I bought a case early on - 2001) which is why I went with the additional filtering system in the first place. I change both filters every 10,000 miles.
Havng said all of this, and not to hi-jack...
