    HX35W on 6.5 optimizer

I am thinking of only running 15 lbs or so... Was curious on everyone's take on 20 lbs of boost... I know with 18:1 Pistons, you can run 20-25 just fine. My boost gauge only goes to 20 anyway. It has a db2, 831 and can't remember the last 4... I turned it up 1/4 turn already. Looking at a 3"...

    HX35W on 6.5 optimizer

I see typical chrysler... Figured it was an oddball size... I may just make a 1/2" plate and weld a 3" vband flange to it... \ About the boost level now... Would a 6.5 optimizer with head studs handle 15-20 psi of boost?

    HX35W on 6.5 optimizer

I saw that kit, only thing I need is the v-band clamp size though. Everything else is ready to go. Will the back of an hx40 bolt onto a 35 to use a 4" vband?

    HX35W on 6.5 optimizer

Well I have a line on an HX35W and manifolds and such but have a few questions. I want to run a 4" exhaust but am having issues figuring out the back of my HX35W. It is a weird ID/OD on the Vband flange. It measures 3.111" (3 1/8") OD. What size V-band do the stock HX35's use? Also, with ARP...

6.5 optimizer swap, blows blue smoke on one side...

When I had the oil pan off to recover the lost pushrod, the bottom end looked perfect. I really dont have the time or funds to pull the entire front end apart again to pull the motor to rering and what not. It ran great except for this crap in the coolant... After letting some of it sit for a...

6.5 optimizer swap, blows blue smoke on one side...

Yea, good possibility. granted I am the first civilian owner. Not sure if the military uses that stuff. Either way, Its getting ARP studs and felpro gaskets... Ill flush the crap out of the system once its back together.

6.5 optimizer swap, blows blue smoke on one side...

Well I pulled the heads and guess what? No bad head gaskets... No cracked heads... No cracks in the block... Had them pressure tested and they are good. The only issue there might be is the precups, they are actually loose and I can gently tap them out from the injector hole... Other than that...

6.5 optimizer swap, blows blue smoke on one side...

It's a 2011 hmmwv take out 6.5 NA... Went into my 74 jeep j20. 6.5 NA diesel/1995 GM nv4500/ford np205... radiator is new universal type from summit without oil or tans cooler. Only coolant runs through it. My oil cooler is separate and in front of the radiator. I filled with green the first...

6.5 optimizer swap, blows blue smoke on one side...

Well I pulled the tstat and flushed the system for about 2 hours before it ran clear... Started it up with tstat out and got no bubbles or anything... Buttoned it up, ran it for 45 mins and the hoses just started to get hard at about 160+ degrees... I am running a 16 lb cap... I'm just wondering...

6.5 optimizer swap, blows blue smoke on one side...

Ok, the hoses got harder as the temp increased, not from initial firing up. Even after running it to temp after 30 mins, they were very hard, but I could squeeze them a little. Nothing blowing out or bubbling from the coolant bottle... My compression test and leakdown tests passed, so I thought...

6.5 optimizer swap, blows blue smoke on one side...

Not sure, never checked it that way, but the hoses are rock hard when hot... I'll check it when I get home and add some water and let it run with cap off, I should get bubbles yes? I'll also grab my block tester and see if it's hydrocarbons...

6.5 optimizer swap, blows blue smoke on one side...

Well I found the pushrod in the pan so that's out of there... Replaced the lifter and pushrod and engine is running good, except after 150 miles, I noticed my coolant is very dark (black or grey) and low (about 2" low in radiator). It's not oily, no trans/oil cooler in rad, and it's uniform (no...

Lol I will be doing that later in the week when I'm off. Hopefully that's all it is.

6.5 optimizer swap, blows blue smoke on one side...

Alright, I pulled the intake and had my wife crank it over (with the IP solenoid disconnected) while i watched the intake valve. It moved as it should and the same as the rest... So i pulled the valve cover and low and behold, the exhaust side was the problem. The pushrod is gone, all i could...

Mine only goes to 300... I'll see if I can find one, and do a leak down as well...

6.5 optimizer swap, blows blue smoke on one side...

Well, I tried to do a compression test and I dont have a fitting for the glow plug holes so I tried something else... Pulled the glow plugs one at a time and started it up... #3, #5, #7 all let out a loud PSSSSST on each compression stroke and it idled horribly while #1 only did a hiss and the...

6.5 optimizer swap, blows blue smoke on one side...

Well I recently installed a 6.5 NA Diesel into my old jeep trick and finally got it fired up after 3 weeks... It starts right up, but you can feel a slight, but very consistent "miss" at idle... The truck bounces a little at idle... It has true dual exhaust on it and the passenger side just...
