Ducted Fuel Injection: The Future of Diesel?

Interesting. Sorta looks like an open rear precup. I have often wondered about the dead end cave shape of the existing IDI and thought that was the limiting thing that "choked the injection flame".

    And So It Begins

Somewhat related I think schools are a pretty neat idea for solar because they are mainly day-use facilities and during the summer months many schools sit idler with less need for electricity. If they were solar roofed/fielded then during the summer they could be feeding the grid with the same...

    Shop Cleanup

👍 Nice Chateau Bow-Wow. Or Mancave depends on who you ask and when. I feel the Zen looking at the pictures.

94 GMC Yukon 6.5L diesel, looking for advice/info on rebuilds, etc.

Welcome. My thoughts are depends on goals and budget. Is the truck worth it? 350 is dirt cheap in comparison! Why rebuild? Hi milage, blowby, low oil pressure? Loss of power? Want to tow better? Any current mods or upgrades? Injection pump? Should get at least the better water pump later...

Battery Life Expectancy For 6.2 Diesel Vehicles?

I usually get a contributing factor like an alternator or corrosion so not sure if battery always is to blame. Seems like about 4-5 years for regular lead acid type Interstate or store brand O'riely's etc.

Things to look for when buying?

That is mostly geared towards a 6.5. I would guess the newer trucks might need more technology to inspect say something like a scanner that can measure balance rates of injectors??? With the expense of the newer injectors and IP's etc I think I may want some receipts or proof of maintenance...

    Looking for some help

I played with car code and have some real world numbers but as always would depend on location and details. I am running a palstic dmax fan HO water pump with restrictor fitting 180F robert shaw stats. My dash guage shows about ~175-180F My fuel heat soaked to about 143F. Today partly...

Car Code "Alex C. Peper" DB9 - usb adapter any substitute?

Finally got it but I clicked on so much stuff not sure how. I bought a "Plugable" usb adapter that came with a disc (it came in a box and the disc survived shipping). The computer is old running software that is out of date think its win 7. I couldn't down load a driver from the website to...

    Drivetrain vents?

I'd say only need a strainer/basic filter over the end so dirt dobbers or bees/insects don't clog up the hose. I have seen some little plastic hat thingies stuck in the end. I have a JD tractor that the clutch bell housing was sealed and it rusted from condesation? A lot of people (that...

    Oil coming out

How many miles and condition of the truck. AK beat me to it while I was typing As in excessive oil or its wettish? Its normal for the intake of a 6.5 to be wettish. After years my rubber hose turbo to intake manifold is sorta oil soaked. The turbo pulls oil vapor out of the engine to...

    Looking for some help

Did the fuel temperature change? Your Original post of 140F seemed in line with a typical value of 159F and the expected range of (50-194F). But those typical values are not qualified as idling, heat soaked, or other. Nor does it talk about winter/summer or today's low sulfur/bio blends...

Car Code "Alex C. Peper" DB9 - usb adapter any substitute?

I have the old car code PC software by Alex C. Peper. I don't see his old website but he seems to have an android version of it with Carcoded dot com. The version of CarCode I have uses a OBD-II plug to what I think is called a DB9 or RS-232 cable then a DB9 to usb adapter. The car code...

    Looking for some help

I tried to hook up my "car code computer" and get some other real world numbers but broke my serial to usb adapter. So back to key board info..... According to alldatadiy..... Fuel Heater The fuel heater operates when the temperature of fuel at the inlet of the filter housing is cold enough...

    Looking for some help

Food for thought...... This is not a common problem on 6.5's that I know of but I just had a friend have to replace injectors in a 5.9 because the injectors were leaky and would bleed down pressure causing hard or no starts at different temps and times. Wonder if you have an injector or 2 that...

    Looking for some help

There were a few posts on fuel coolers over the years. This was an old post of mine from the place...... Circa 2008 Clipped..... I am always interested in more info on this subject. Since that thread I have learned a bit more..... ------------------------------------------------ Jim over...

    Extensive fuel additive testing { youtube video }

I have watched several of his videos and usually like them. I especially liked his duct tape one. This one seemed like a good comparison but he tested the lubricity with the straight product not with it added to diesel fuel. That might have made a little difference. But the lubricity thing...

Has anybody made, used or bought a pull behind Propane weed burner?

It is relatively expensive but I use "corrosion block" ( blockcorrosion . com ) on some stuff and it seems to last pretty good. Fluidfilm WD40's specific corrosion product Vegetable oil and tarp The sun is what kills most stuff outside so I have always wanted to wax stuff or use a sealant...

Has anybody made, used or bought a pull behind Propane weed burner?

Yep little guys always get the pinch. Farmers are no different and may be the worst segment. There is a series on Netflix called Rotten. It covers some of the corruption in different grown commodities. The show on Avocados was telling.

Has anybody made, used or bought a pull behind Propane weed burner?

My home made torch has a regulator the store bought does not. I think a standard OPD valve will require some back pressure so you'll have to have some down stream control. You probably will have to 2 stage regulate if you have a lot of torches. Unless you copy a known design I think you...

Has anybody made, used or bought a pull behind Propane weed burner?

Good points Dieselamatuer. I box garden and use news paper and pine straw to control weeds. A farm down the road uses a lot of plastic. I have used the burner in the garden and clearing some shore line where I can't use herbicide and it kills some stuff easy other not so easy. That video...
