    gonna need a new block...

So a while back the head gaskets blew on my truck. got the engine pulled last weekend and tore it down over this week after work. #2,3,and 4 mains were cracked on the passenger side:mad2:. #4 was so bad i expect the engine would have catastrophically failed soon if it weren't for the head...

    Casting # & Date code

i don't believe that is correct. i believe what you have there is a much sought after 'red block'. the first year of the 6.2 (1982) is a good block, and was painted red rather than black as used on the later engines. i believe the 88-93 engines were also considered better blocks (though i may...

scat vs pen crank in 95 block?

yeah the '95 blocks dont have the piston sprayers. Yesterday i went to a good head shop i know to price my rebuild kit and i talked with the owner for a while. I ended up deciding on the SCAT crank and new stock balancer. This is because i plan on using ARP main studs as well as having the...

scat vs pen crank in 95 block?

Just trying to figure out my budget on my rebuild, and with the economy and the bad canadian exchange rate right now im trying to see where i can trim some costs. My question is is it worth getting a Pennisular forged steel crank (~900USD) over a SCAT cast steel crank (~400USD) if I'm...

    min 18:1 starting temperature

I have manual override already, and i have either the HP4 or the GL4 (got mine just as the GL4 came out. either way my Heath chip has changes to the glow system.

    min 18:1 starting temperature

I asked this once before on the other site but never go an answer: I'm planning on going 18:1 with the 95 when i finally can get back to working on it. So im wondering whats the minimum temp a 18:1 6.5L will start at (with good batteries, glow plugs, injectors, etc)? with and without block...

    Bit the bullet/Jumped the fence

Actually i called them last week to check on a price. They just got them in, apparently they are very good quality, and a decent price (compared to GM prices)- he wasn't sure yet but he figured they would ship for around the 800 dollar mark.
