Just put in a new gauge set (factory ones were screwy) and now the engine light is on all the time.
I'm pretty sure this thing is just an idiot light connected to the stock gauges isn't it?
Can i just pull the bulb? or does this light actually have another function that is actually important?
So my dad has a 88 V3500 that got in accident a while back. the frame was bent and not correctly fixed. he is replacing the motor and plans to swap frames.
Question is what frame can he use? its a 4x4 dually crew cab. can he use any dually frame and swap over the parts?
Thanks,
James.
mines pretty heavily modified and needs new injectors but it gets about 14 usmpg. that's probably 70% city and i drive it pretty hard. pure highway it gets closer to 20 usmpg or so but it's got 3.42s so your probably right in the ballpark.,
thanks missy. thats what i hoped, but as i mentioned, i had never noticed it before and wanted to make sure something wasn't going to blow up on me.):h
Ill still pull the tube and take a quick peek just to be safe.
i guess it would be pretty loud. i mean i can just hear it over the engine, but only if the oil cap is off.
ill have to investigate more.
i doubt its the timing chain cause i replaced that when i rebuilt the motor 9000km ago. im 99% sure i torqued everything to spec but i suppose a bolt...
yeah i considered that. I'll probably look into that if no one else has run across this before.
i was hoping it was just gear noise and i had never noticed it before.
So a while back i noticed that when i take off the oil fill cap i can hear an intermittent metallic tink, tinking (awesome sound effects huh?).
I'll try to describe it the best I can: the volume varies slightly and though it seems follows the engine noise(rpm), the actual timing of the noise...
Ugh, haven't had time to look at this yet. maybe this weekend.
Should be the 93+ style unless someone swapped an older trans into it.
Is the 1-2 solenoid removable if you drop the pan or does it require trans removal and disassembly? In otherwords can i do it myself?
having a weird problem with my trans. it drives just fine, but sometimes 1st doesn't engage. its not slipping, its like its in neutral. it only happens once, and then drives normally the rest of the trip.
it always happens right after starting up, but it doesn't always do it. I'll reverse...

i have an auber for my pyro. works fine but the thermocouple that comes with with it seems kind of cheap. Its also too short to get right into the exhaust stream so I'm going to get another thermo couple.
gauge works nicely though.
If i ever have to do those bolts again i think ill will take a holesaw to the firewall and put in those plugs like you say. It would be well worth it i think.
checked grounds. undid the ones at the rear passenger side head. were clean. put them back together with a copper based anti-seize compound (lists electronic contacts in uses.)
recently cleaned the frame ones, but ill check them again tomorrow.
checked fuses in engine bay. couple of the big...
and yeah a turned up db2 should be fine i would imagine, but yeah i guess that's a question for Slim
yeah i'd love to get another 6.2l 4x4 when i get the money. manual trans preferably. turbo it, jack it up and play in the mud :D
