This is where I'll be reviewing the transmission kit I bought (pics)

I would print out the section of their web page where they say that shipping is free and keep a copy of ALL correspondence to and from them just in case they want to pull any funny stuff. You should also contact your credit card company if they try to screw you.

(12/14/08) How is your suspension set up?

Completely stock. Daily driver and occasional towing boat or utility trailer.

I agree! Yes, it's a nice layout, but it makes things hard to read and makes me dizzy. - I won't be looking at it much. Sorry!

Jay, I would not hesitate at all. Send it all back right away and get your refund. Then call Mike L or SunCoast directly and get a PROVEN kit from people who live and breathe with the high performance Allison transmission. The tech support will be second to none and your truck will thank you...

    I finally fixed my printer...!!!

I wonder what "The Geek Squad" would say if you were brought it in a plastic bag and dropped it off for repair and told them that it suddenly developed a massive hemorrhage. :D

    Fuel Filter Change

The production filter is hard against the injector harness that runs along the side of the valve cover. This makes it difficult to get the strap wrench around the filter. The 3/8" spacer moves the filter away from the harness and makes it much easier to get the filter wrench on. However, if...

    Fuel Filter Change

REPLACING THE DURAMAX FUEL FILTER The first time I replaced the fuel filter in my truck, I wrestled with if for about 90 minutes due to the fact that I couldn't get a wrench to slide onto the filter. I eventually had to remove the battery on the passenger side after removing the air cleaner...

(12/09/08) The Inagural Weekly Poll - Do you support the GM Bailout?

I agree that the auto companies could have done things differently years ago and perhaps they might be in a better position to weather this recession. That's why I voted that they should get these LOANS, but the CEO and his MINIONS MUST GO! The auto companies are NOT asking for a bailout. They...

    Hyperpac LBZ

Great post Nick. That sounds like a really nice tune. Is the Hyperpack easier or harder on the transmission compared to the Predator? How expensive are they? Do you have a TransGo Jr shift kit in your truck?

    Head gaskets... again...

Damn! How much coolant in the cylinders can this engine tolerate without hydro-lock? I would think that if your engine is THAT bad, you are in deep "doo doo" already and you'll be needing much more than just the heads milled and new head gaskets. :(

    Is the LBZ worth it?

I definitely agree that the LBZ is the engine to get. My 2nd pick would be a 2006 LLY, which is the same exact engine with a milder factory ECM tune.

Can you plow snow with a 5-speed?

I would rather plow snow with a snow plow ):h Oh, you meant with a truck equipped with a 5-speed transmission. Some people like plowing with a manual transmission and others don't like it. It all comes down to preference. If you have a a lot of small parking lots where you are using reverse a...

    LBZ Extended warranty?

The standard 2006 GM Warranty is 36-mo/36K miles bumper to bumper. The Duramax engine's warranty is 60-mo/100K miles with $100 deductible per visit on the engine only. It does NOT include the transmission or anything else in the powertrain. If you have more than one covered problem they will all...

    Speedometer Screwy

I would try to see if GM would replace it as a "goodwill" gesture, since I would consider this to be a SAFETY related defect. In the past, GM has warrantied speedometer clusters on other vehicle as a safety related defect. It's worth a try. But please, do NOT make a big scene at the dealer...

Is a stock 06 Dmax faster than

Once in a while some people make it hard to avoid the temptation. :D Late one night, back in July of '07, the wife and I were returning to our motel in Daytona Beach after visiting her niece in Ormond. On our way back to the motel, the streets were pretty much deserted that late at night. I...

    SRW Heavy Duty Towing Tires

If you were to get E-Rated LT285/75R-16 tires, they would have a max load capacity of 3,750 lbs @ 80 psi. They are the highest load E-Rated tires that I have been able to find. They should give you an additional 1,110 lbs of carrying capacity per axle, compared to what you currently have. I...

    SRW Heavy Duty Towing Tires

All 'E' rated 245/75R-16 and 235/85R-16 tires have a rated load capacity of 3,042 lbs each when run as singles. All 'E' rated 215/85R-16 and 225/75R-16 tires have a rated load capacity of 2,680 lbs each when run as singles. If you want to carry bigger loads you need to go to a larger size...

Is a stock 06 Dmax faster than

It's quite interesting how a large number of Prius drivers are total a$$holes who think they own the road. Most of them seem to be flaming liberals, so how can we expect anything different. I had a similar situation happen to me while driving through Ohio 4 months ago. I left him in the dust...
