Not sure if this is possible with the 6.5's but it seems my truck is making oil now. I check the oil all the time and notice today it's higher on the stick than it should be. Do the injectors leak down and cause this?
It runs, starts and drives fine and even idles smooth.
Dealers says it's the HPOP. 100 dollar deductable aplies and we will see how long it takes them to do it. They were quick to diagnose it and seems to be a good shop as well. Bonnel Ford in Winchester
Funny you say that, yesterday, no start condition. Ended up with dead battery's charged them up and still no start. He is having it towed to the dealer:mad2:
it's only hard to start in the am or after sitting for more than a few hours, once warm it starts normal. Oil is always done at 5k with Ford oil and filters. Fuel filters are done as scheduled as well.
I was reading about an oil additive that may clean out some deposits in HPO system possibly...
My buddys truck is very hard to start lately. You need to crank it way to long. This has just started happening over the last 2 weeks he tells me.
It's an 05 F 350 6.0.
I bought all new lines from the dealer a while back when I did my sending unit. I pulled the bed and changed all the lines up to the motor. Dealer had all but 1 in stock and had the other one the next day.
I should have done the increased lines while i had it apart.
Depending on your mileage you could reuse the gears but I wouldn't chance it. Most shops will not warranty the work if you bring in used gears. The gears and install kits will run you $500. This will give you good USA made gears and timkin bearings.
Any 01 and up GM HD 2500 with the 6.0 gas engine will have the 10.5 axle in it with the disc brakes and parking brake.
The 8.1 and diesel trucks have the 11.5 axle and all single wheel 3500 trucks have the 11.5 no matter what engine, although I can't remember when they came out with the 3500...
I paid about 500 to have them installed. They had to install the ARB at the same time and it adds to the cost vs just doing gears. I use Mitchell Drivetrain for anything gear related as he does excellent work and has done a few other axles for me over the years.
They run a 1410 u joint on them from the factory but the 1350 yoke works on them. I kept the 1410 yoke as I plan on a 2 piece steel shaft with a cv joint. I have a slip yoke eliminator kit for the t case to install at some point. For now I run a combo joint, 1350 on one side 1410 on the other.
You won't find one out of a newer truck with those gears in it factory.
I paid $500 for mine as it's a low mileage axle. I regeared it and added an ARB air locker to it so the cost goes up the more you do to it.
There are disc brake kits out there but the brakes don't compare to the newer...
No the spring pads were off. I bought new ones for 50 bucks and welded them on. The axle is 3 inches wider overall so it also corrects the rear track width these style trucks have. It matches my front much better now
Find one out of a gas truck, 01 and up 3/4 ton and use that. It's the same old 14bolt axle we use with the disc brakes and parking brakes though.
This is what I used in my 98
I would guess it's way to much money for the 6.5 truck market. Keep up on filter changes and open the T valve once in a while and your set.
I have changed plugged filters on the side of the highway in the dead of winter 1 time, on my van though, but a spare filter is an easy solution which I am...
I run the road tube. The CDR has a spring in it that sets the pressure and i doubt the intake pulls much if any vacume on it. I don't think it going into the air intake does anything more than try to clean up the vapors by burning it again.
Look at any of the older diesels and they all ran the...
I use anti-seize on the wheels and have never had an issue. Without it the alloy wheels are a bitch to take off. Doing it on the side of the road is even better
You need to go back to the dealer and make them replace the tires. Tell them they installed the wrong tires and could have possibly killed you or someone else on the road had you loaded your truck up properly. Do not take no for an answer
