What valving did you get on the shocks? Great idea on the shock mounts.
I had the same issue with the rear shocks, I pressed the mount out of the old shock and pressed it into the new one. I did find out the parts are available from bilstien but like you I couldn't wait.

If your going to keep the drums the steel braided lines will make a big difference. The other important item most forget to keep on top of is adjusting the rear drums at every oil change. If your getting over 100k out of your rear brake shoes them they are not adjusted right.

I think the disc brakes will be the best thing you can do to these trucks.
My truck stops like a corvette, well almost:D. My next thing is lose the abs controller all together and install and adjustable prop valve for the rear.
I used a condensor cleaner I got from an a/c supply house. Mix it with water and spray it on and it foams up forcing the dirt out of the fins. It takes the paint off but won't harm the aluminum.
The sleeve will need to be exactly the same thickness of the shim though as the pin hole in the spring perch is not much bigger than the stock sized pins.
Why are the holes bigger in the shims to begin with?
Is the aluminum wedges an issue for us in the rust areas with the dissimilar metals...
The trans flush is very easy and I think you will see more benifit from the amsoil if you do it. I would skip the additives, the amsoil will have everything in t you need.
