fingers crossed. I am having the alt setup off teh burb looked at tommrow to see if it can be used and then I will move forward with 12v conversion which will solve a few problems. I will miss the 24v start though in the winter..I tell ya, there ain't nothin like it.
I will probably use the GM4 for now. My only issue is the way the ex flange comes off it gets ugly trying to squeeze a downpipe in. Alot of guys run the exhaust on the outside of the frame or deal with a custom made DP hitting the cab. I do not want a bodylift so I'll figure something out. The...
I tried a GR one with the big opening and it did not fit but it was a used one form the Junky. Maybe I'll grab one from Autoparts and see. I sure hope so. I ain't no spring chicken and 3 is not a charm for pulling tranny's...:suicide:
So what was the outcome ? Did you put it back on yet ? Results ? I have a very similar setup. I am curious how it responds with a mech IP and an NV4500 as compared to a DS4.
It's currently on a 6.2. Can you clarify which flywheel was which ? If I understand it right the top two are the manual Tranny ones and the bottom two(LUK and T400) are auto ? If that is the case then we are talking about .011 difference and I am hitting by atleast .0625(1/16 inch) if not more...
The difference in offset"if there is one" will only be about 1/16th of an inch. Do you have them off Barry and can lay them flat and measure the offset ? Nothing is ever easy for me, always gotta be something that just can't be or no one has ever seen...:suicide:
I am more sure now it is the f'in flywheel. ****!! One is the 6.2 the other is the 6.5...The F'in flange looks different to me. Damn it. Always trust your gut.....Then again, the pic ,might be deceiving. The 6.5 motor has the RMS pulled in this pic so it looks like it sticks out further...I'll...
I know this is gonna come down to ordering both and laying them side by side unless the flywheel was mismade but I doubt that as it was in another guys truck working. I'm going to try and buy the starter he had is it's good . If it doesn't fit then I will know.
Is the starter for an NV4500 6.5TD different from a 6.5TD auto ? I get conflicting reports. I am having an issue over this. NAPA shows yes, Advance shows no. I would be referring to a 93 K3500.
I think the only thing left to do is order both flywheels and put them side by side. I am gonna be pissed if I gotta pull that flywheel again. My gut had told me to use a 6.2 flywheel but the 6.5 one was brand new.
It cranks over fine, the starters from a 6.2 and 6.5 have the same part # so I don't see how that is possible. The GR starter I tried to bolt up is from a 6.5 and the flywheel is from a 6.5 so that only leaves two possiblities. either teh starters are different from MT to AT or the 6.5 flywheel...
