Because when it happened, I didn't realize that it was a problem. I hadn't read alot about it happening.
I caught it before destroying anything else though. If I had known what I know now, I'd have done it sooner!
I fixed it with JB weld and ran it for several thousand miles before changing it.
It's not that hard to do.
I did mine by myself. The hardest part was lifting the case back in lone but it can be done.
I used Merchants part and a new back half GM case.
Mine had rubbed through at about 90K miles. Caught it before any other major damage was done.
