What is the easiest and simplest way to hook up a fuel pressure gauge, including best location to tap and such. I want to monitor my fuel pressure. What is the best lift pump for the DB2831-4911? I remember a while ago someone said the Warlboro or however you spell it might be too much pressure for a mechanical pump or something. Any insight would be helpful!

easiest place is off the drain T. best place is just before the IP. there are 2 different walbro pumps the frb5 and the frc10. the frb5 is the one you want for the mech IP.

Would the drain T and before the injection pump give me the same reading? Why would you say before the injection pump as the best place?

Hey, thanks! That simplifies it a ton. So I didn't see the FRB-5 listed, but would I need to buy the bypass kit, the FRB-5, and the Fuel Pressure Tap to upgrade my lift pump setup?

before the IP shows what the fuel pressure is to the IP, at the drain T or the fuel pressure tap that Leroy sells will only tell you the prefilter pressure, before the IP will help tell when it's time to change the filter.

But the fuel pressure tap is into the filter housing, which is before the injection pump? Doesn't the fuel flow through the filter housing to get to the injection pump? I am not sure I am following you.

I check my filter enough to not have to worry about knowing when to change it. So would tapping into the top of the fuel filter housing give me an accurate reading of fuel pressure then?

MY FPT is pre filter. Its great to monitor LP PSI, but you would need one after the filter to know filter condition.

I don't sell many FRB5 so did not list it. I can get anything Walbro sells. I would say if going to a Walbro to get the LP bypass fittings also. You might consider removing tank sock and installing a Pre LP fliter too.

So is the FPT monitoring LP PSI? I am not good at these fuel things. Getting kind of lost. I planned on the bypass fittings, and I thouhgt about the pre-lp filter and removing the sock, but time and money.

filters can plug pretty fast (bad batch of fuel) also there will be some pressure drop across the filter and more as it ages

I usually check my fuel filter every other oil change. I am not worried about that. I am looking for ballpark figures here, not exacts. I am ok to within 1-2psi of actual pressure

I am bias obviously, but you will be fine. In all my years with a 6.5 I had one filter problem that caused poor running engine. The majority of the time the stock LP or the OPS will go out and you'll know when it does if you monitor LP PSI with a FPT.

I bypassed by oil pressure switch already. No need to worry about that. One of the first mods I did after buying the truck.

I am not sure if there is anything bad to running a 10. I just heard that the mechanical injection pumps dont like that much pressure. I am not sure. Maybe the more knowledgable can chime in

Well, mine has been highly modded so I think it likes it... so far I haven't seen any adverse affects and I have a 30 micron pre filter and a 2 micron after the LP.

I used the Tap on top of the factory filter for my fuel pressure gauge.

I have a write up called auto meter gauges with lots of pictures.
