Installed my new S&B this weekend

I purchased a new S&B air intake from Nate Dwyer, and installed it on Saturday. While I was at it I plugged the resonator.

I am currently running the 330 hp tune on my PPE, and can tell a marked decrease in the amount of black smoke as compared to the stock intake. This thing is definitely moving a lot more air.

This isn't the metal tube one, is it?

I don't have any pics, but will see if I can get a couple tonight.

schulte, this one is the black plastic tube; I don't like the heat collection properties of a metal air intake.

They retail for $269 shipped, but DSTRBD gives a discount for DP members if they mention that site when they order. We need to get good vendors like him over here. :)

I am surprised in the decrease of black smoke. I just put mine on last week and have noticed more black smoke and I was running the 120HP tune from Preadtor.

I got one of those over the winter too...they sure look nice in there.
Problem is, I did a few things all at once over the winter (exhaust, tires, intake, etc.) and can't tell what helped and what hurt.
My mileage is close to what it was stock, down just a tick. But it sounds and looks nice...I guess I'll keep it...[IMG]

    oil filter

is the filter oiled like a K&N? if so, it's been discussed that it may cause the MAF to not function properly. looks like a nice system

These look really nice. Sharp looking with the plexiglass on the top. I had an AIRAID on my '05 but am looking at getting one of these maybe.

It is an oiled filter (which I was not thrilled about), but if you don't over-oil it your MAF sensor should be OK. I understand that S&B looked at a dry filter option, but concluded that the oiled gives better filtration and flow.

More air = less smoke for me with the PPE Hot+2 on kill. It was sometimes to the point of dangerous for other drivers if I had to get on the throttle hard with the stock intake, leaving a very dense cloud of coal black smoke for as long as I was on the throttle.

From S&B's site. I don't know that I'll go that long between cleanings, though.

nice, I've always liked the plexiglass top. And you gotta admit 'sometimes' that extra black smoke is fun!?

thats not bad i would probably clean it every 25k or 30k so you just clean it then re-oil it?

what a differance the new model is. they redesigned the unit from when i got it and my i am jelous. but i usually have to give mine a cleaning twice a year. i do it after the sweeping gets done on the streets, in new england it gets dusty in the spring from the sand, then i do it before plowing season. not as dirty but still dirty. you oil it much differantly than the k&n. they give you the oil but you have to measure it out so you don't over oil it.
